Course Description:
In this interactive CE program, we will distinguish the benefits, characteristics, dynamics, and limitations of group supervision. We will identify processes, goals, and challenges in group supervision. Finally, we will cover evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of this supervision format, strategies to improve dynamics, and how to foster a supportive environment.
Course Learning Outcome Objectives:
After the course, participants will be able to:
1. Define group supervision, purpose, benefits and limits.
2. Compare and contrast individual and group supervision models, identifying the unique benefits and challenges of each, and determine when it is appropriate to use one over the other, or combine both, based on the needs of the supervisee and the setting.
3. Identify and compare stages of group supervision, and goals and tasks in each stage.
4. Describe various methods for evaluating the effectiveness of group supervision, including both formal and informal assessment tools.
5. Apply effective strategies for managing challenging group dynamics to foster a productive and supportive group environment.
6. Apply understanding of group supervision via interactive discussion.

Anna Yas, LCSW
Course Instructor Bio:
Anna Yas, LCSW, is an experienced social worker specializing in clinical supervision, training, and curriculum development. For nearly ten years, Anna has supervised social workers, focusing on the complexities of mental health practice and professional growth. Her supervision focus includes trauma-informed care, cultural humility, mindfulness, self-care and therapeutic engagement. She earned her MSW from DePaul University, completed an Advanced Psychodynamic Fellowship at the University of Chicago (2019–2020), and is a Level 2 therapist in Practice-Focused Training in Prolonged Grief Disorder.

Shan Ru Lin, LCPC, ATR-BC, ATCS
Course Instructor Bio:
Shan Ru Lin is a Certified Sexual Assault Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and a Certified Art Therapy Supervisor (ATCS) in Chicago, Illinois. Trained in EMDR for trauma therapy, Shan has a long history of working with women, adult and childhood sexual assault survivors, marginalized populations and those most impacted by the lack of social justice. She has worked with women, adults, and children with a history of trauma in the community, medical, and educational settings. Shan currently works as a counselor, art therapist, educator, and clinical supervisor in private practice. She is the founder of Spring Advisory, a consulting firm focused on providing mental health services and serving the mental health professional community. with over 15 years of experience in trauma-focused therapy and over 7 years of supervisory experience. She holds an MA in creative arts in therapy from Drexel University.
How to Get Your CE Certificate After Completing The Course:
Please fill out a course evaluation and pass the post-test exam by 80% score or more. Your certificate will be issued to you after passing the exam. You can retake the exam if you do not pass.
