1 CE Anti-Discrimination in Mental Health: Systems, History, and Clinical Impact,

Course Objectives:

·  Participants will be able to identify various systems of oppression in education and healthcare.

·  Participants will be able to name the mental health impacts of oppression on marginalized people.

·  Participants will be able to recall the history of discrimination in psychology research and how that impacts our practice today.

·  Participants will acquire language that will help in their assessment of oppression-based trauma and better help clients impacted by oppression.



2 CE Anti-Racism and Cultural Responsiveness in Clinical Work: Knowledge and Practice Skills

Course Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to define Anti Racism and what it means in the clinical space.

  2. Participants will be able to define diversity, equity, and inclusion, and use these terms as frameworks to further understand marginalization.

  3. Participants will examine the actions that lead to racist ideology.

  4. Participants will analyze intersectionality as a framework for anti racist assessment.

Course Instructor Bio:

Richla Davis, LCPC, is the cofounder of Ida Lillie Psychotherapy & Wellness, where she specializes in culturally responsive, identity-affirming, and anti-oppressive mental health care. She has extensive experience working with individuals navigating anxiety, relational patterns, life transitions, and oppression-based trauma. Richla integrates clinical expertise with a decolonized framework, supporting clinicians in expanding their cultural humility, deepening self-awareness, and strengthening their capacity to provide inclusive care. Her training style is warm, engaging, and grounded in both research and lived experience. Richla has a Master’s Degree in Education, and a licensed clinical professional counselor. Richla has guest lectured for the University of Chicago Crown School of Social Work and was an Adjunct Professor at DePaul University where she taught Multicultural Counseling for the graduate school counseling program.

How to Get Your CE Certificate After Completing The Course:

Please fill out a course evaluation and pass the post-test exam by 80% score or more. Your certificate will be issued to you after passing the exam. You can retake the exam if you do not pass.

1. How many CE hours are required under Illinois CE law for psychologists?

Licensed clinical psychologists in Illinois must complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE/CEU) every 2 years for license renewal. This requirement applies to psychologists licensed under the Illinois Clinical Psychologist Licensing Act, including those holding a PsyD or PhD.

2. Is diversity CE required under Illinois CE requirements for psychologists?

Yes. Beginning with the September 30, 2026 renewal, Illinois psychologists must complete at least 3 hours of CE related to diversity as part of the 24-hour total. This applies to all licensed clinical psychologists, including PsyD license holders renewing under Illinois CE law.

3. How does Illinois CE law define “diversity” CE?

Under Illinois Administrative Code (Part 1400), diversity continuing education (CE/CEU) refers to education that addresses issues related to diverse populations, supports culturally responsive practice, and is relevant to the practice of psychology. The content must support competent psychological service delivery to diverse populations. This definition applies to all Illinois psychologist CEU and Illinois PsyD continuing education submissions.

4. When must the 3 diversity CE hours be completed?

The required 3 diversity CE/CEU hours must be completed within the 24-month prerenewal period immediately preceding the license renewal deadline. Illinois psychologist license renewals occur on September 30 of even-numbered years. This timing requirement applies to all Illinois CE requirements for psychologists and Illinois CE requirements for PsyD license holders.

5. Does APA approval meet Illinois psychologist CE requirements?

Yes. Continuing education sponsored or approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) is recognized under Illinois Administrative Code as acceptable continuing education for psychologists. APA-approved courses meet Illinois CE requirements for psychologists when properly documented. This applies to PhD and PsyD license holders completing Illinois psychologist CEU requirements.

Online CE, including Illinois PsyD CEU and psychologist CEU completed remotely, is acceptable when sponsor and documentation requirements are met.
